We have an unlocked Android cell phone from Verizon. Me and my girlfriend will be in ireland for 2 weeks in May 2016. Are we better off buying the international plan from Verizon or buying a sim card for it or buying a pre-paid cell phone to use while we are ireland? 99% of our calls will be to BnBs in ireland and 1% of calls will be to the US. And which would be better for data use while in ireland to use for info and directions?
I don't know about Verizon's vacation options, but assume you will check those next year, closer to your travel date, since options may change. From http://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/phones-tech/cell-phone-europe: Expect to pay about $15-30 for a SIM that includes one month of data within the country you bought it.
Thanks Laura. Waiting till it is closer to our travel date is great advice.
