Ulysses-Based Tour In Dublin Suggestions

Thank you all for your time. I have been trying to get a few places to respond to me for my trip in October to Dublin, but to no avail. I was looking for a private tour in Dublin that was mainly for Ulysses, Leopold Bloom’s path in the book.

I tried Joe Darcy, but he sadly no longer does tours. I contacted Sweny’s Pharmacy online, as he recommended, and got nothing in response.

I also tried the Joyce Centre, and David Halpin. These were other suggestions, but I haven’t received any word back from them either.

Has anyone gone on a similar tour that can share the name of someone that they recommend?

Thank you all! Cheers!

As you know, Dublin’s James Joyce Centre offers public Ulysses walking tours.

The author of “ The Complete Guide To the Streets of Dublin,” Neal A. Doherty, is also a Failte Ireland qualified tour guide.

You may want to inquire of Mr. Doherty if he, or someone he can refer you to, offers a Ulysses-based tour in Dublin.

Check your private messages for Mr. Doherty’s contact information.

If all else fails, you can take a literary pub crawl, where two actors recite and summarize scenes from Ulysses and other Irish writers. The tour ends at Davy Byrnes pub (just off of Grafton Street), where Bloom stops for lunch in the novel. Inside there's a display of a first edition of Ulysses that Joyce gave to the bar.
