Type of clothing to wear in mid April

We’re traveling in mid April and looking for advice on clotgung, other than the obvious rainwear and layering clothes, Should we pack 1 pair of fleece lined pants or days on the coast? Assuming it will feel colder than 45-55 degrees if it’s rainy and windy on the coast.

Hopefully, the temperatures will be higher than that, they are trending up from those predictions already, and lately temperatures everywhere have been warmer than usual.

I think fleece lined pants would be stifling if you have sunny days and you are out and about all day. Maybe bring lightweight long underwear just in case. Waterproof, hiking shoes were our favorite thing that we brought, they really helped in the downpour we had one day and with the puddles we would encounter after overnight storms.

We also purchased waterproof, lightweight rain hats from REI, that we brought with us and luckily we did not have to use and we returned. In some of these windy locations, with the sideways rain beating down, an umbrella is useless. Those hats would really help keep your face and hair dry. Also, have a longer rain jacket, to keep your thighs and rear dry. Bring good socks, we loved the wool blend from REI.

Have a wonderful time!

We did our trip to Dublin and Northern Ireland during that same period. I would say you don't need fleece lined pants, just the usual jacket layers, hats, socks. I think I had quick dry hiking pants. As Sunny22 responded, perhaps lightweight underlayer bottoms. I don't remember spending much time all bundled up. Weather was much better during our trip than we expected (2015).
