Two Routes on Burren Way from Lahinch to Doolin--advice?

Hello,

We are trying to decide on two different options for doing the segment on the Burren Way from Lahinch to Doolin. There is the longer 28 km (17 mile) route that takes the coastal path from Lahnich-Liscanoor-Hag's Head-Cliffs of Moher and on to Doolin. There is the shorter 18 km, 11 mile route that by passes Hag's Head and goes Lahinch-Liscanoor-R478-Cliffs of Moher-Doolin.

Has anyone done either of these routes? What were they like and could you recommend it? The 17 mile version gives us the full coastal view, but leaves us little time to do things in Doolin that day. We also wonder what it would be like walking on R478 (the shortcut).

Thanks for any input!

Hag's Head (Lighthouse, etc. and cliffs) are pretty, but it is a real time eater. We went from Doolin to Dingle via Hag's Head and the Ferry and thought it was not worth the extra time (after the fact) but that's just us.
