I'll be stopping over in Dublin for two nights at the end of May after a 10-day writing retreat in Doolin. Have decided to take the all-day tour to Newgrange (and have reserved it), but will have a few hours on the night before and the night of. I'm staying at the Gresham and would love to find a good pub with good food nearby. Any suggestions? Also, is an Irish Buck Jamesons, Ginger ale, and lime?
The Church is pretty close to your hotel. It's a popular place. It's not a traditional pub (it's in a former church building) but does serve traditional pub food. My friend and I ducked in for a pint. She had a massive bowl of mussels that were very good. They have music most days, I think.
I am not a cocktail person, but I suspect that an Irish buck is not an Irish drink but an American one that happens to use Irish whiskey.
Oh, mussels! On my way:))
