Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed reading about your trip. My interest in the boat trip was definitely piqued by your stops at Athlone and Clonmacnoise, which are on my list of places to see. Next time!

Sounds as if you had a great time (despite gorse thorns and other issues). It makes a change reading about different places to the usual tourist itinery. All that research paid dividends!
