Are there free student-led tours of Trinity College? If so, where do you find them, how long do they last and should you tip your guide?
Is this for a prospective student? If so it looks like tours are only offered on their open house days for prospective students. They do offer chats with current students. Their admission website is the best place to look for that information.
As far as I know there are no free student led tours unless you are applying for admission: https://www.tcd.ie/study/international/visit/, in which case tipping is not expected and probably would be refused. The last time I took the student led tour (2018) there was a fee, it included the Book of Kells and the Long Room and there was no tipping. It looks like there are even more options now for tours, all with a fee: https://www.visittrinity.ie/.
No, I'm not a student. I just thought I saw in a previous forum that you can just show up and tours leave regularly and are run by students.
I think you might be thinking of the “Trinity Trails” tour. You can book at this link, but it’s not free. Available with or without Book of Kells Experience.
Thanks, Barbara. I'll look into your link.
