I'm curious to hear from anyone that has used the Trinity College Summer Accommodations, particularly Goldsmith Hall.
I have used Trinity, but I did not stay in Goldsmith Hall as I wanted to stay in one of the older original campus dorms. Staying there at night and strolling through the courtyard to go in/out of the campus was nice. Location for sure is the biggest attraction of staying there as it puts you right in the center of just about everything and what you can't walk to, you can catch a bus or taxi to as they all all over the place outside of the main campus walls.
It was very basic (it's a dorm, don't expect the Four Seasons - don't even expect a Hampton Inn). But it was clean and comfortable for a few nights, relatively quiet, and my room rate included breakfast in the dining hall. There were kitchenette and coin-op laundry facilities that I could use as well. Room I had was very large and had it's own sink, but if you need to use the bathroom or shower, in that particular building there was no en-suite and I had to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the showers. If I stayed there again, I would probably go for the more modern dorm buildings now that I've already stayed on the main part of campus. But even then, they usually are pretty basic so don't stay if you expect hotel-level service.
Thank you for the insight, it is about what I am thinking. Although the various negative reviews have been both comical and entertaining, they are clearly written by folks with unreasonable expectations.
Several years ago we stayed in a Botany Bay unit that had 2 single bedrooms (we used one as our dressing room), 1 bathroom and a combined living room/kitchenette. It was near the Buttery, which made it handy for breakfast. Our 45 students stayed in an older style dorm with shared bathrooms. They were all within the ring of the inner campus.
Sorry but I don't know specifically about Goldsmith Hall, but the general feel of being in the city center and staying on the campus of this beautiful university is a unique experience no matter which type of accommodation you choose.
My three daughters (young adults) and I stayed at Trinity College for a couple nights two summers ago. I don't recall the name of the hall. We had two rooms, and each room had its own bathroom. The rooms were very basic but clean and comfortable. We arrived from the US on an early morning flight, and they were willing to keep our luggage and delivered it to our rooms when they were ready. The location was great, and it was so easy to get an early place in line to see the Book of Kells.
