We are landing in Dublin at 11:50 am and wanting to catch the 3:30 train to Galway. Advice on airport to train station? Is this a doable plan?

I gather you already have your flight booked, right? The bus from Shannon airport to Galway is a breeze and only a couple of hours. You can catch the airport shuttle to the train station in Dublin (pretty sure it stops there) or take a taxi for around 30 Euros. I think your plan will work, but it will be long journey after the flight. Maybe you can sleep on the train!

We are flying into Dublin, not Shannon and did think we could catch a nap on the train to Galway rather than spending the night in Dublin. Saving exploration of Dublin for the end of our trip when we meet our son coming from Germany. Prioritizing exploring the southwest coast.

There are frequent, direct bus services from Dublin Airport to Galway. Faster and more convenient than going to the city to get a train.
