Traveling Kingscourt to Belfast

We need to get to Belfast from Kingscourt (without a car). It looks like we need to take a bus to Dundalk and then the train to Belfast. Does anyone know:

  1. Does the Kingscourt bus go to the Dundalk Rail Station or somewhere else?
  2. Should we pre-buy/reserve this journey? If so, just the train portion or the bus as well?

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

The bus stops at Kennedy's pub, on the main road at the bottom of the station approach road- so effectively at the station. This seems to not be a bookable route so just pay your 9.60 Euro fare on the bus (or 6.72 Euro if you have a Leap card).

Then book the connecting train.

That is very helpful to know right where the bus will let us off, thanks! Are you saying to book the train ahead of time or is that not needed?

You don't HAVE to book the train ahead of time, but there is always the chance you will have to stand if you don't.

Also the walk up fare is 15.20 Euro, booked ahead on Irish Rail it is 8.19 Euro.

That's so cheap! Wow. I'd like to buy now even though I know it locks us into a specific time frame. Still..I think I'll do it anyway. Thank you for your advice!
