Hi,
I'm trying to get from Edinburg or Shannon/possibly Dublin early in the morning to meet my wife who will be flying from the US to Ireland and will arrive around 8/9 am. I can't seem to find a morning flight on Aer Lingus or Ryan Air to either location that is not very expensive. Any ideas?

What date, and what day of the week?
Have you looked at Skyscanner to see all options of airlines? http://www.skyscanner.com/
I assume the flights you are looking at are expensive because early flights like those are taken mostly by business travelers, and are in higher demand. Leisure travelers take later flights and have more flexibility, so those flights can be cheaper.
You can always fly in a day early and spend the night near the airport; of course, with the cost of the hotel night, this may not be any cheaper (depending on where you were planning to stay the night before meeting your wife).
