My daughter is traveling to Ireland to study abroad for the semester (Jan to May). I'm looking for suggestions for cell phone use for her and my wife and I to keep in touch. She will be traveling with a group and they will be doing trips while they are there as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I’m sure she could get a local SIM card once there but Since she will likely have WiFi access, could you use WiFi calling or FaceTime? And you could use WhatsApp for texts - or just regular texts since she’d be using WiFi already.

On this site in the "Tips and Trip Reports" section there's a forum on Technology Tips. You'll find lots of information about phones there. Also, as your daughter will be traveling with a group, ask the group organizer for cell phone recommendations.
