Our plan is to fly into Ireland, tour then go to Scotland and tour, departing from Scotland. What would you recommend as the best way to travel from one country to the other?
Thanks!

We are going from Scotland to Ireland in July and we are flying from Edinburgh into Shannon.
Flying is usually cheap and simpler than a ferry/train/bus combination. Try a search at www.skyscanner.com.
Note that there are flights from multiple Irish airports to multiple Scottish airports. You can find out who flies from an airport by looking at its Wikipedia page.
Dublin, Cork, and Shannon are the largest airports in the Republic of Ireland. Belfast has two airports, Belfast City and Belfast International; if you're interested in flying from Belfast, investigate both. Edinburgh and Glasgow are the largest airports in Scotland, but you may want to start your Scotland visit further north and work south, so also look at Inverness and Aberdeen.
Depending on where in the US you're headed back to, you may have a nonstop flight option from Glasgow or Edinburgh. Lots of UK and Ireland destinations are served by Aer Lingus through their Dublin hub, and they often have good fares, so they can also work well for your transatlantic flights.
Thank you! The advice was very helpful.
