We will arrive in Ireland early in the morning for a unfortunately short stay for 2 nights in Killarney and 1 night in Kilkenny before a night at an airport hotel before flying out early AM the next day. ( NOTE: We are undecided if we go to Killarney first or Kilkenny first, for 1 night then move to Killarney for 2, but the questions remain the same just with that variable.) So to maximize our time that first day we are planning to take a direct coach bus transfer from Dublin Airport to Killarney for 2 nights. We will rest and see the town or National Park that day. Day 2 we would like to hire a private driver for the Ring of Kerry a good part of the day. The third day we would like a private driver to take us from Killarney to to our hotel in Kilkenny. From there we will take a direct coach bus back to the airport at the end of our stay. While in Killarney and Kilkenny we will mainly be on foot or rely on taxis or ride-share like Uber or Bolt.
My questions: 1) Is it easy to hire a reliable professional driver for the Ring of Kerry when in Killarney? Then from Killarney to KIlkenny? 2) Is it possible to enjoy those 2 towns for a short time on foot or using taxis? Is it easy to get a taxi or uber to do a Jaunting Car Tour in KIllarney National Park from Killarney?
Thanks for info, ideas, and suggestions!
Respect and safe travels!
A few years ago, we took the RS 7 day tour. We flew into Dublin, took a bus to Killarney for two days, then a bus to Ennis for the tour start.
We really liked Killarney, my wife still talks about the best Indian Food ever, that we had there. For the Ring Of Kerry, we took a Paddywagon bus tour. It left from the Tourist Office (short walk from the center of town). It was a very enjoyable tour, and it ended up with two stops in the Killarney National Park.
