Transportation in Dublin

I will be staying three days in Dublin near the Cafe du Jour, at the corners of Cork Street and Marrowbone Lane. I will be taking an Uber or taxi from the airport to that location. How should I get around from there? Is the Leap Card the best choice? What' the best way to get around. Should I do the Hop on Hop Off bus for a day? I don't want to walk toooooooooooooo much as I am 60 something and have crummy knees. Help!

In general I think hop on top off buses can be good value especially for a first visit. There are several companies ( viator/tripadvisor) has a pretty good list) so you'll need to look at the routes, is there a pickup point near your loding, prices, additional benefits like discounts, etc to find one you like.

For public transport within Dublin it's mostly buses. Again you need to research routes from your lodging to the places you want to see to see if this will work for you. The Leap Card, like all such prepaid cards, only make sense if you'll be making enough individual rides that the single fares add up to more than the cost of the card.

That location is a bit away from the touristy areas and not the most salubrious of places, however Cork St is very well served by buses into the city centre. You can either get a Visitor Leap Card at the airport which includes a return trip to the city centre and all other bus/tram/train travel or load money onto an ordinary Leap Card to pay for individual journeys. Bus fares can be paid in cash using coins only but they're more expensive.

I think in Ireland an Uber and taxi are the same thing. When you call an Uber, a taxi shows up.

Buses seem to be a good choice and are always a good way to feel like a local. There are a couple other options but they're limited. I'm not sure they'll work for you.
