any recommendations for reasonable cost transportation for 2 people? Old Ground Hotel says they partner with Tony woods chauffeur but checking other options. thank you
When we took the Heart of Ireland 8-day tour in 2019, we just took a taxi from the airport to the Old Ground Hotel. The taxi drivers were waiting inside the terminal. Don't recall the cost, but thought it was reasonable and the driver was very engaging.
Define "reasonable cost". Bus Eirreann #51 and #343 between them run a bus every 30 minutes, but do you want to take transit, or some kind of a door to door car service?
You could take Irish Bus (https://www.buseireann.ie/). Unlike the U.S., the bus system in Ireland is generally efficient. I have taken it around 10 times, though not the Shannon-to-Ennis route specifically.
thanks so much for the link. I think we'll take the bus to the Ennis station as it's less than a third of a mile to the old ground hotel and much less cost than a taxi. I appreciate everyone's feedback.
I can second the taxi option, as I recall their was an interior desk adjacent to the Shannon baggage claim and you just let them know you need a taxi. They maintain the queue whilst we waited in the terminal maybe 5 minutes for the driver. No issues. Don't remember the cost other than it was reasonable.
We took the bus to the Old Ground Hotel from the Shannon Airport before our RS tour and it was so easy. It wasn’t necessary to book tickets ahead, so we just paid when we boarded. The walk to the hotel was very easy.
I also took the bus. Easy walk to the hotel.
The bus station in Ennis and the train station are basically the same place.
