My husband and I land at Dublin airport on May 29 at 7am and want to get to Galway that day.
I was told it is faster to take the bus to Galway as it is at the airport . Any information on what company and where to buy tickets would be greatly appreciated . Thank you.
In March this year we bought tickets for the Citylink bus a few days before arrival. I guessed on a time, our plane landed at 9am and I had no idea how long it would take to get out of the airport. We arrived and got our luggage more quickly than anticipated. So we walked to the bus stop, showed our tickets (on my phone) to the driver and got on 90 minutes sooner than our ticketed time. He said we can get on an earlier bus unless it was sold out but would not likely be able to get on a bus later than our ticketed time. So that worked out well!
We sat in the front seats up top and had great views as we rode. The stop in Dublin was quick, they just picked up a few more people and it was about 10 minutes. I'm sure it would have taken longer to get into Dublin for the train.
The total trip for us was 2 hours, 40 minutes.
Thank you all for your helpful information!
Another vote for Citylink. My son lives in Galway and uses the bus often to get to/from Dublin Airport to Galway City. According to him, it's faster than the train, a comfortable ride and cheaper.
