I am arriving in Dublin but will need to get to the Heusten train station to get to my accommodations in Limerick. I'm planning on purchasing train tix prior to arriving in country as I've been told it saves some $$. Does anyone know the commute time from the airport into Dublin? Thx
It might depend on the time of day. Many of Aer Lingus's arrivals from North America at pre-6am, removing the factor of traffic.
Forgot to add… we arrive in Dublin at 10am
On the Airlink timetable it says the average time is 45 to 55 minutes.
Arriving jet lagged I'd be inclined to take the direct Citylink coach- 2 1/2 hour journey so you're half way there in the time it takes you to reach Heuston
Thank you for your reply. I think I will sort through this after a cup of coffee. :)
We're doing something similar, but heading to Cork.
I was wondering if we should take the bus from the airport to the train station and go to Cork, or just take a bus directly to Cork?
I was happy to find out that there is a bus that travels directly from the airport to Limerick. I think it will save some time and headache
As for Cork the journey times are almost identical, at 3 1/2 hours by either mode.
Two competing companies-
Air Coach is cheaper than train at 19 Euro, and is, well, less effort- board and 3 1/2 hours later you are there-

and Go Bus/Citylink Ireland at 20 Euro
And with a bus every 30 minutes between the two companies just turn up and go
