Hi all, I really need some advice. We need to get transport on Dec 24 from Galway to Ballymena and I keep reading about reduced service through holiday periods. Can anybody give me some advice...like is it a train, bus or a combo of those to achieve? We will be in Galway for 2 weeks but then with family in NI for Christmas.

On Christmas Eve all transport in the Republic runs as normal with an early close at 2100- https://www.transportforireland.ie/christmas-services/
In Northern Ireland it is the same but with an early evening close (like the rest of the UK that probably means 1900).
So I would take an early train from Galway to Dublin Heuston, the LUAS tram across the city to Dublin Connolly. Then the Enterprise train to Belfast Lanyon Place, change there for the Derry train as far as Ballymena.
That is Galway depart 0525, 0625 or 0730-Dub Heu arr 0756, 0844 or 0949.
Dub Conn 0930 or 1130 Belfast LP arr 1145 or 1340
Bel LP depart 1220 or 1420 Ballymena arrive 1259 or 1459
