Hello,
I'll be going from Dublin to Dingle in early June, traveling by train from Dublin to Tralee (with a change in Mallow), and then by bus from Tralee onward to Dingle. If I catch the first train from Dublin the morning (7 a.m.), I'll arrive in Tralee at 10:55 a.m., according to the schedule. There's a bus to Dingle that leaves Tralee at 11 a.m. My question is . . . how likely am I to make this connection given that I have only 5 minutes to do so? I know the train and bus stations in Tralee are adjacent to one another, but this connection is tight even if the train is right on time. Has anyone done this before?
It's a small, terminal-end station which doesn't require stairs for track access. If you're standing at the door before the train stops, ready to hop off when it does, then it sounds feasible. I haven't been at this location.
Do you have to buy your bus ticket ahead of time, or can you buy it right at the time you board? If you can do it later, then just take your 7 am train, and hope for the best. Looks like the next bus out is at 11.
If you have to buy your bus ticket in advance, if I were you, I'd just take the 9 a.m. train out of Dublin, arrive at Tralee at 12:55, and take the 2 p.m. train to Dingle. It'll go much more smoothly, and you'll have time to grab a quick lunch and a pint!
Does anyone know what the latest bus is from Tralee to Dingle on Saturdays? Does one buy a ticket from the driver? What's the price of round-trip ticket? Thanks.
