Train/private driver in ireland

We are active seniors and would like to know best towns to visit by public transportation and a private driver.
How do we find out about drivers, without spending a fortune. Thank you
We will land in Dublin, have reservations for 3 days, then on to Galway. We will be in west Ireland for 7 days. Should we fly to London from Shannon or Dublin. We have not booked the return to London as yet. This is our first trip to Ireland.

For sure fly back from Shannon as you will be on that coast and will not have to 'double back' to Dublin

I have seen many on her take the train from Dublin to Galway and that seems to work well. You may want to then look for a private drive to take you from ay Galway to the Cliffs of Moher etc. You can most certainly rely on buses/taxis to get around Dublin
Do you have your accommodations booked? Many times, I have found out B&B hosts our hotels concierges to be very helpful with transportation recommendations

Carrie,
If you take the train to Galway from Dublin, it would be very easy to connect with a private driver that I am going to recommend, that drives in the Western and Southern part of Ireland (he lives in Doolin). But, he MIGHT (I just don't know) be willing to meet you in Dublin. Below is his contact information. I am not sure which phone number is correct for him, so it might be best to email him. But, if you don't hear back from him immediately, he is currently in Florida on vacation himself, and I think he will be returning to Ireland in early April.

We hired him (at the recommendation of one of the B&Bs in which we stayed when we were in Ireland a few years ago, and then we recommended him to friends here in town (who were also super pleased with him). In fact, our friends were so pleased, they hosted him in an extra downtown condo they own here in town when he visited Nashville last year.

He knows just about everyone in Western Ireland, and he was a very courteous, on-time driver, with a nice spacious vehicle. He took care of all his own overnights, meals, fuel, parking, and tolls. We had a rough idea of what we wanted to see, but I then told him to just show us the beauty of his country, and did he every deliver!! There is so much we would have missed without him being at the wheel. Also not driving allowed both my husband and me to enjoy the scenery and sights along the way.

Here is his contact info:
