I am trying to find a train from Dublin to Kilkenny on the Irish Rail website. My husband and I are traveling in May and would love to spend the 1 day in Kilkenny (travel to Kilkenny and back in 1 day). However, it appears that ALL of the train rides from Dublin to Kilkenny in May (and any other day I enter....) are sold out? I am so confused. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you in advance!

You can only book a maximum of 90 days prior to your proposed date of travel. So, relax. Just wait another month and try again. And don't worry - the trains are unlikely to sell out on that route.

I did this trip in November but stayed a couple of nights in Kilkenny.
The Castle is about a 15 minute walk from the train station.
You won't have a problem getting tickets.

I would recommend that you go down in the morning and spend the day seeing the sites and stay in the "Butler House" B&B, the location is excellent and Castle is fun to tour. Then get up the next day and take the train back in the afternoon.
