We are doing the heart of Ireland tour in May 2017. We are flying into Dublin a few days early and then will head to Ennis on Saturday so we can meet the RS tour in Ennis at 2 pm on Sunday. I would like to take the train across to see some of the countryside but I can't quite figure out if the train goes all the way to Ennis or if we will have to switch to a bus in Limerick... has anyone else made the journey across from Dublin to Ennis and what are your suggestions? There is a train from Dublin to Ennis. You will have to change trains in Limerick Junction.
I personally have not taken it but know people who have.
Use the Irish Rail website and plug in Dublin Heuston station.
The Ennis rail station and the bus station are one in the same. A five minute walk to the Old Ground Hotel if that is where they are putting you.

Thanks Frank. Yes we are at the Old Ground in Ennis. Looking forward to seeing the countryside from the train as we cross Ireland.
