I'm planning to take the train from Dublin/Heuston to Ennis. There is one train that only has a 3 minute connection time - is that enough time to make the second train? The next train leaves about 1.5 hours later and has a 20 minute connection time. Just wondering from those who have connected in Limerick - is the 3 minute connection time ok, or should I book the later train?
Note that Limerick and Limerick Junction are two different stations and, at different times of day, either one could be the connection point to Ennis. At www.irishrail.ie, the departure that I see that fits your description leaves Dublin at 14:00 and connects at Limerick Junction (departure at 15:40). Other departures following this route tend to allow 6 minutes for the connection. I have not been there, and the web site does not specify, but I suspect that the connection will be made on the same platform. Be well prepared, with all your stuff gathered, to hop off the train as soon as it stops. Standing at the door before the stop is common. Try not to be last in line getting off the train. If you miss it, the next train from Limerick Junction to Ennis is not direct, it requires one more connection.
Thanks for the reply and yes it's limerick junction. I think I will go w the 3 minute connection and if I miss it there is always another train to ennis about an hour later not like there won't be another one
