Traveling to Ireland May 13. Ending our whirlwind 6 day trip with 2days/1night in Dublin. I have read many posts suggesting staying outside of Dublin and taking bus or DART Train into the city. How far out to avoid hustle bustle of city and parking dilemmas? We will have a rental car to park at our B&B near the Botanic Gardens (Innkeeper will provide permit to park on street and the B&B is near Drumconda Ave bus line). Is this location too 'close' to the city? Should we look to stay further out? How long is train ride into city from Howth? With a short visit we of course prefer to be experiencing Dublin rather than sitting on a bus/train. Thanks so much!

Not sure if this is still possible for you but if it were me, I would drop off the car on my way in to Dublin (you do not need a car in Dublin) and rent a hotel in the heart of Dublin. I love being able to walk places and Dublin in a very walkable city. Then you can come back to the hotel for some rest and then go back out. The train from Howth is 30 minutes.
