Titanic Experience Belfast

My daughter and I have booked a trip to London England for 2 weeks. Since my daughter is a HUGE Titanic fan we thought we would take this opportunity to fly to Belfast for the day and take in the Titanic Belfast experience. I'm sure most of the time will be spent seeing all there is to see there and now trying to figure out the rest of the day.

Couple questions and need recommendations :

-looking into flying with Easyjet 7:30am depart London- arrive Belfast Int 8:45. returning to London 9:40pm- comments on flying with Easyjet? or other airline suggestions?

-what is the best way to get to Belfast city centre/ Titanic Belfast? from Belfast International airport

  • after finished Titanic approx 2pm- thinking doing HOHO or Black Cab tours for rest of time until having to go back to airport OR are there sites to see around city centre within walking distance (walking tours)? (we will have no car to get around) -any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated

I'd look for a flight into Belfast City rather than International if you can as this is much closer and on the same side of the city.

I liked Carrickfergus, just north of Belfast. I'm pretty sure it would be an easy cab trip from Titanic. I thought it was one of the best castle visits in Ireland. It served as a Norman stronghold during that era of Irish history. It's not huge so won't take long (plan no more than two hours, probably an hour to an hour and a half). It sits on a nice open water view. The area has a nice seaside boardwalk, no attractions just a walkway and grass along the water.

Thanks for the suggestions.. It was a a little complicated finding the right airports/ airlines flying to/from the International airports vs City Centres. Also that We wanted the early morning departures and latest evening flights back. After searching all the combinations, have found a flight from Heathrow to Belfast City Center airport with our preferred hours.

I went to the Titanic Experience last year and you will certainly enjoy. I think it is one of the best organized museums I have ever been to and the building itself is amazing. I flew from Belfast City to Heathrow and Belfast City is a small airport & a short cab ride from city center. If you are around city center I would stop in to City Hall. It is a beautiful building and they have a good cafe.

I'll second the rec Laurie Beth makes to see Belfast City Hall. It's a lovely building, and there are free tours daily, three M-F and four each Sat & Sun. The building was damaged and repaired after WW2 bombing. The guide that we had (a local high school history teacher) mentioned that many of the same craftspeople who worked on Titanic also worked on the City Hall. Highly recommend the Black Cab tour, as well.

The Titanic experience is an excellent presentation. I did want to point out that the major focus is on building the Titanic.
