Hello all,
My DS and DiL are traveling to Ireland in April 2025. They have a timing question about their trip and I offered to get input from the friendly experts.
Their plane arrives Dublin from U.S. at 5am on Saturday. Will it be possible to make a 7am train (Heuston station)?
They aren't sure about arrival and customs (they ARE checking a bag). They have already secured a private transfer to drive them to the station.
Thanks!
All things are possible, but this seems unlikely. The good news is that the trains in Ireland are fairly inexpensive, even if not booked in advance. Depending on their ultimate destination, there might also be frequent departures. Of course, their private transfer might not be as keen to wait around for a flight delay, etc.
The private transfer, if a reputable company that specializes in airport pickups, will monitor the flight for any delays and be there based on typical time after landing for retrieval of luggage and border control/customs. Making a 7am train might be possible, but why should they stress themselves with such a tight schedule?
