I know that hours are generally "ish" in Ireland. Does that extend to buses and trains? How likely are buses and trains to be late arriving? I'm taking a bus from Dingle to Tralee that's supposed to arrive at 11:25 and the train to Dublin leaves at 11:50. I did pay a few extra € to be able to take the next to train, if necessary, but how likely am I to miss that connection?
I never found that times to be 'ish' in Ireland at all. Our trains, buses etc have always have been on time
My experience: Trains always operated on time. Buses generally started on time from their point of origin, but often fell behind schedule due to traffic, construction, the world’s slowest driver immediately ahead, etc. One bus was 40 minutes behind near the end of its route and another was 20 minutes behind.
We were getting anxious in a village as we were planning to take the last bus of the day and had waited quite a long time. A local saw our worry and told us that this particular bus was often quite late. Sure enough, after another 20 minutes and a violent rain storm, it showed up!
The shorter the distance your bus needs to travel, the more likely it will be on time.
Thanks, everyone. Your replies are very helpful.
