Time to buy airfare for Shannon?? Anyone been to the Galway Oyster Festival ??

Planning our trip (9.22-10.03) and have seen rt from Boston as low one day as $630 but is now back up to $795...
Any suggestions we want to fly non-stop. NYC-Dublin seems a bit cheaper but Bos is much easier to get to and from.

Wait until next Monday or Tuesday. For some reason, many airlines increase their prices on Thursday-Sunday, and then lower them again on Monday for a day or two. If it goes down to $630 again, book for sure, it won't get cheaper than that.

We were in Galway at the same time as the Oyster Festival in 2014, but it's not nearly as big a thing as they make it sound. We had more fun walking around town than visiting the tent where the festival was going on, which was sparsely attended. Unless you are an oyster fanatic (which I discovered I was not--those things are nasty!!), I would skip it, IMO.

I had more fun waiting for my mom while trying to figure out why an Irish pub was called The King's Head, seemingly in honor of King Charles I, whose picture was on the sign. It was only when I saw the "Established 1649" and realized that they were celebrating his beheading instead that I got it. I dragged Mom inside for a Guinness just because of the pub's name!

We fly aer lingus because it is straight through and leaves and arrives home at decent hours. Worth the extra money. I follow their flight prices and would pay extra to fly from Boston if that is your home airport. Our price from Orlando runs about 800.00 on average.

I have already booked for Sept because of seats, a bit picky. I like the two seats together and not the four. Actually paid 50.00 dollars more for better seats on return as the better cheaper seats were gone. All that was left were the seats in the rear of the plane or by the lav...

I have been for the oyster festival, not such a big deal, it was on the same week as Arthur Guinness day which was a big mess. I think the city has made some rules though now and won't be such a drunken mess. There were broken bottles everywhere and the store keepers were very upset. Mostly due to the college students. Check and see if it falls again on the same week.
