Time to allow for the Nat. Museum of Archaeology in Dublin?

I am trying to plan days in Dublin for a fall visit. We are pretty devoted, but not fanatical (unless you ask our children) museum fans-we read and look at most exhibits. The National Museum of Archaeology looks very interesting, but our RS 2016 guide only plans for 90 minutes. I'd appreciate some response on how long you tool to view the museum. Our time there will partly depend on weather-we're trying for a fairly flexible schedule and if it happens to be not raining, we'd prefer to be outdoors. Thanks.

It is a great museum but you can cover pretty much the main areas in 2 hours, we really enjoyed our time there. Just a block south is St. Stephens Green which is a nice park that the kids would enjoy.

Greetings from Ireland.
I agree with all the comments here, just one quick addendum - if you are into Literature, then pop next door to the National library and enjoy the great exhibit on our National Poet, WB Yeats.
Oh and as a fellow Museum Fanatic, you'll have to visit the "Little Museum of Dublin' a block away on St. Stephens Green, a real disruptive crowd-pleaser that is winning all sorts of accolade and awards.

We approach museums the same way you describe and we spent a little over two hours at the NMA. It's full of interesting exhibits! We were especially fascinated by the exhibit about the bog people (and we rather enjoyed sharing the room with a school group. Kids on a field trip are the same everywhere!) St. Stephen's Green is also within walking distance of the museum and is a wonderful spot for strolling if the weather is nice.
