Going to Dublin Irleland in April. How much time should we allot for tour of Book of Kells with Trinity College and National Museum of Archaeology on Tuesday, 18 April?
I'd say an hour for the Book of Kells (including the Long Room upstairs), a half hour for the rest of Trinity College (or take a separate guided tour there, probably longer), and 2-3 hours for the National Museum, depending on how deep you want to go into Irish prehistory. It's pretty deep!
An hour for the Book of Kells/Long Library is good. If time is tight you can read up on the book beforehand, skip the informational walls and walk right back to see the book then up to the library. I can’t remember how long I spent at the archaeology museum but I did use the guide in Rick’s Best of Ireland book and thought it was perfect for visiting the museum.
