Tickets all sold out for Kilmainham Gaol, stand by??

Our trip is coming up in Sept 8-16 and Kilmainham Gaol is sold out. How can I get in? Thoughts? Also, there are other places that need tickets, some free, some not (ie: Book of Kells, Kilkenny castle, Rock of Cashel), should I get everything I can ahead of time or do you find that we can get them the day we arrive and know how jet lagged we will be?

Regarding Kilmainha Gaol, I would email them and see if they have a wait list of some sort. The website says they are not selling walk-up tickets. Alternatively you could just keep checking back and you might get lucky. It appears that both Kilkenny Castle and Rock of Cashel only make tickets available one week in advance. Given that capacity is limited and entrances timed I would book them as soon as I could. Book of Kells appears to be much easier to get a ticket and you can probably wait until the day you want to go to get one.

It was two years ago that we were last there and we were able to just walk in and there were nine of us. It was mid to late September and I think it was mid week. We must have just been lucky and hope you will.be also. It is so worthwhile. Good luck! Just noticed the above post which said No walk up admission.sorry about that.

If you're unable to book individual tickets as the date draws closer consider booking a day trip with one of the local tour providers - they'll have a block of tickets reserved for their customers. Will cost a bit more but it might be your only option for gaining entry on a particular day.
