My husband and I are going back to Ireland in October 2020 (his second, my third time). We are planning on taking our travel companions to Blarney Castle, but we have already been. What else is there to experience in that area? Anyone have any ideas for us?

39 miles to the west of Blarney Castle is the Gougane Barra Forest Park. There's a lovely smallish lake; on the lake is a family-run Inn that serves creative and delicious food. So, you could visit, hike in the woods, have a fine meal, and I think they also have boat rentals.
