We are planning to attend a show at the Gate Theater in Dublin. Has anyone done this? Does it seem worth taking the time out of a few day stay in Dublin to do that?
A few years ago we enjoyed a dramatic production, Big Fellah, concerning recent Irish history, at the Gaiety Theater near Grafton Street. After a full day of sightseeing, it was perfect!
Yes, do it. Nice, old building with fine moulded details. Pleasant concessions set-up at intermission. Well-acted production. 5-stars.
Sightseeing time was only enhanced since I don't think we would have stayed up late enough to see the more wild, post midnight goings on in Temple Bar had we not had the theatre to keep us out of trouble during the dinner hour.
It depends on how much you enjoy the theater in general. We were glad, some years ago, when we saw "The Field". Don't forget to pre-order your intermission cocktail or brew before sitting down!
