Hi Hank, If you mean one of the exhibits that has items from the Titanic, such as clothing, dinnerware, etc. found on the ocean bottom, plus reproductions of staterooms etc., then I have been to one. It was not in Cobh but in Philadelphia, Pa. And it was wonderful--moved me to tears in places. I will never forget it.
Thanks. But this is actually a permanent venue/museum in Cobh. Cobh is the last place the Titanic docked/anchored before heading for New York.

We did visit it about a year and a half ago and was not impressed, don't remember seeing any artifacts. However, they did have a replica of a second or maybe third class stateroom and was surprised and shocked at how elegant it was. We did learn some interesting facts but that was about it. Was more impressed with the view from St. Colmans cathedral, statue dedicated to Luisitania and statue of Annie Moore and her brothers who were first to enter Ellis Island. All in all, was glad we had a morning there.
Hank: The museum in Cobh is very small and conveniently located at the train station. However, if you really want to have a Titanic experience, Belfast is the place to go: http://titanicbelfast.com/Visitor-Info/
Or, if you're ever in Halifax, Nova Scotia, this museum has excellent displays on the Titanic.

Cobh is a delightful (hilly) town to stroll around and stop for lunch on a nice day. I agree with a previous poster, St. Colman's Cathedral is beautiful (inside and out).
My tour stopped there. I found the museum very interesting (I'm a "museum mouse" and find most museums interesting). Afterward we bought lovely food at the market for a picnic lunch and enjoyed wandering a bit in the town. I didn't go to any of the other sights because I got sidetracked by a vintage auto meet (the cars were all around 100 years old). If it's on your route, why not?
I have been to both the one in Cobh and the one in Belfast. Both tell their stories well, and are worth visiting. However, I would say Cobh first, as it could be underwhelming in comparison.
Belfast is more about the ship, and the situation in Belfast of the time. Cobh is more about the social side and the emigrants stories.
I thought the museum was small but very interesting, doesn't take a lot of time. I just enjoyed wandering around Cobh and I loved St Colman's Cathedral. Cobh itself is worth 1/2 day.
Nancy, that is why I mentioned going to the Cobh museum first! ;-) It is a very good museum, but the Belfast Experience is just so colossal in comparison!
I have to agree with MC--the museum in Cobh is small and, although we found it interesting, it did suffer by comparison to the Belfast museum (which we visited first). I think the impact of Cobh really lies in the fact that it is the city of departure for many, many of our Irish ancesters.
Thanks to all for responding.

yyup, the cathedral is nice, and th the multicolored houses near the coast are very photogenic....at least, i think that was cobh
My husband and I (and some of of our tour group) were not impressed with the whole Titanic Museum "thing". Some of us were tapping our feet, waiting for the tour to end so we could go on our way.
