Taking the scenic route from Ennis to the Cliffs of Moher to Dingle

As we peruse the Google map, we see a 42 minute drive from Ennis to the Cliffs of Moher. From there we prefer not to retrace our steps via Ennis. The drive through Kilkee to the Tarbert (requiring a ferry?) on to Tralee to Dingle looks interesting (3hrs 22min). What recommendations and forwardings might you have to offer?

The coastal drive down thru Lahinch, Kilkee and Kilrush is quite pretty. The are scenic vistas the whole way down - lots of places to stop for photo ops. Kilkee is a pretty little beachside village, and there's a cliff walk there that's ready made to order for a picnic lunch and generally stretching your legs. Kilrush is a nice place for a pit stop as well.
The Tarbert ferry across the Shannon won't save you any time but you really won't care. It's a pleasant way to go.
From there you can add a little excitement to the journey by driving into Dingle via the Conor Pass ... but only if it's a nice day. The road necks down to a single lane in spots which can make it a bit of a nail biter in rainy or foggy conditions.
You'll love it.

Kilkee is a great little town and the cliff walk is wonderful. While not as high as the Cliffs of Moher, the cliffs at Kilkee have two big advantages: less people and you can walk along the base of part of them. There is a parking lot next to the Diamond Rocks Cafe to begin the cliff walk. And the cafe is delightful place to eat and enjoy the vistas over the bay.
