Taking prescription meds and pain med to Ireland

Today, I visited the dentist and found out I have a simmering bacterial infection in a root canal tooth. She prescribed antibiotics and a narcotic pain medication just in case things go south. I think the antibiotics will take care of the pain without the narcotics. I also take a few other prescription meds.
Does anyone know what the rules are for bringing medication into Ireland, along with a narcotic pain medication? Since I'm leaving Tuesday, and today is Friday, I have one day to figure this out when my doctor is available. I would really appreciate your knowledge and experience on the subject. I'm flying Seattle-Heathrow-Dublin on Delta and short hop on British Air. Thank you! Kathy

Why not just ask at the bus station in Piran when you arrive -or the tourist info site ?

A quick Google search told me that drugs such as cannabis, cocaine, heroin and amphetamines are banned no surprise there! No mention of other meds. I have never been asked about medications going into any country. If you are concerned just make sure your antibiotics and painkillers are in their vials with labels; I believe some people also get a note from their MD.

I think I will get a paper copy of prescription for pain med to bring with me, along with a note from my doc for why I have them. Don't really feel like bringing other meds in bottles, but better safe than sorry. I read the same thing re: meth, heroin, cocaine etc. It's difficult finding anything that directly addresses prescription narcotic pain meds. Thanks!

Medications are fine as long as there isn't an excessive amount. (You're traveling for two weeks and you have as six month supply.)

Narcotics are okay, you just want the prescription with you. (The label on the bottle) Again, not an excessive amount. As long as the information has your name, the doctor's name, name of drug, dosage and prescribing information, you should be okay. Chances of you being stopped is very small.

You don't have to declare it.

You’ll be fine with the medications you need in their original containers. You will find ibuprofen and acetaminophen to be your friends. Take some with you.

Thank you Alan. That's my plan. They are already in my carry-on.😊

As your flight to Ireland is via Heathrow you will be technically carrying your drugs through the UK border as your entry point to the common travel area.

The list of controlled drugs can be found here. Look at the right hand column for the 'Schedule' number. The only issue is if you have anything in Schedule 1. I think this is highly unlikely (eg medicinal opium is Schedule 2), but you might want to reassure yourself with a quick check.

Can't help for Ireland.
