We will be traveling from Northern Sweden to Ireland and then back home to the US in June and July. I was wondering which airport would be the best choice. We would like to rent a car during our stay so also wondering about renting it in one country and driving it mainly in another? Our destination in Ireland is ultimately the Killybegs area. We are flexible with our time in Ireland, currently looking at about ten days.

I think Dublin is going to be your only reasonable choice for flights from Sweden. Both SAS and Norwegian fly from Umeå to Arlanda. They also both fly from Skellefteå to Arlanda. Both of these airlines fly from Arlanda to Dublin. If you want to limit the flight to one connection, connecting in Arlanda en route to Dublin may be your only option.
