We are planning about 5 nights in Edinburgh after Ireland and found an AirBnB right off Royal Mile near the castle. There are 4 Adults and it seems like the perfect place to be. We weren't planning on renting a car but walking, hop on hop off and taking a few tours perhaps. A friend suggested to rent a car and stay outside Edinburgh (Callander town) maybe? Any suggestions either way?
Definitely stay in Edinburgh. It is a very walkable city and there is plenty to do there for three or four days. If you want to day trip somewhere you might (depending on the destination) need a car, but that's unlikely since there is a fairly good system of public transit around Edinburgh.
I agree. Stay in near the Royal Mile or New Town. You can walk everywhere and there is plenty to do. If you do what to go out to the country rent a car for the day if you need to.
This posted in the Ireland forum!
You might get more responses if you put it in Scotland.
Callender is about a 3 hour drive from Edinburgh
Thanks for the heads up! Wasn't even thinking when I posted this here! LOL
