Can anyone suggest reasonably priced accommodations in Belfast and things to see there in one day in April. Coming from Dublin by train or bus.
How much is reasonably priced (in GBP)?
There are a few of the major chains (Ibis, Holiday Inn, Premier Inn) in the city centre which should be reasonably priced. With just one day you want to prioritise what interests you- if it's politics/history I would take a black taxi tour and visit Crumlin Road Gaol or the Ulster Museum. If you want to do shopping I would visit St George's Market. If you're interested in the Titanic definitely the Titanic Belfast. For traditional pubs you have the ones around the Entries, including the Duke of York, as well as the Crown, which you can appreciate even just for the decor. If you like walking, Cave Hill Country Park gives you wonderful views over the city.
We stayed at The Flint and really liked it. It is very convenient to the bus station and pretty close to the train station, too. https://www.theflintbelfast.com
The rooms were really well-appointed. I like when there is seating other than the bed. There's also a mini-kitchenette, but for a short stay like yours, that probably won't matter. The staff was very kind and helpful here, too.
One drawback is that the rooms facing the street can be noisy, as the windows aren't at all soundproof. Ask for a room facing the back, if that is a problem.
The activity that was most memorable for us was the murals tour with Paddy Campbell Tours aka Belfast Famous Black Cab Tours. https://belfastblackcabtours.co.uk . (Note: I do not recommend booking with the copycat, Taxi Tours Belfast (belfasttoursDOTcom) aka Black Taxi Tours Belfast. We had a booking with them initially, and they left us in the lurch. Paddy Campbell Tours came through for us at the last minute AND were a little bit cheaper, too.)
What has attracted you to visit Belfast and what sort of things are you wanting to do/see? (Mysuggestions may ne those from hell for you!!!)
The Premier Inn over in the Titanic Quarter is quite nice, is as reasonably priced as you're likely to find, and is well located for the Titanic Museum and walks into the city center via a pleasant pedestrian walkway.
We're headed back to Dublin next year and plan to stay at the Ramada Inn. We stayed at 10 Square right after they opened but the price as ballooned. We drive, so nearby parking is a must, and of course, a low price.
McHugh's Bar is a great spot for trad music and cozy atmosphere. We loved the Botanical Gardens ( a gardener decided to dedicate an hour chatting us up). The nearby Ulster Museum covers everything from the dinosaurs to the troubles - very exhaustive and exhausting. Despite our repulsion to crowded bucket list places, the Titanic Experience was great, as was Crumlin Gaol. Crumlin is vaguely similar to Kilmainham but the perspective is different.
