Many attractions seem to have a discounted price for students (with valid student ID). What age students does this mean? High school? College? Will my college-aged son be able to pay the student price with his American college ID? I am buying advance tickets for some things, and I want to make sure I get the right ticket for him. Thanks!
It is hit and miss. When our college age sons traveled with us we always asked for student discount. It varies. Sometimes only good for European students and other times it was accepted.
Our daughter just took her college photo student ID and never had a problem in France and England. I bought student tickets and had no trouble when picking them up or using them. I don't know about Ireland. I had heard on this forum that college students need some kind of special ID, but she just used her card and it wasn't an issue.
Students under 18 are more likely to get discounts based on age. College students are typically advised to buy the International Student Identity Card: https://www.isic.org/, which is the suggestion in Rick's Ireland book (brief, p. 496).
