Southern Ireland with 3 kids

Hubby and I are taking our 3 kids (8,4, 6 months) to Ireland end of may or early June. We are thinking of flying into Cork picking up a rental car and then dropping rental car off and flying out of Shannon. Is that doable?

We would like to see
-Dingle Peninsula
-Aran Islands
-Cliffs of Moher

We are also doing London on this trip so we were going to skip Dublin. We are also not huge into museums. Also trying to avoid to much driving. Kids like exploring new places and trying new foods and are extremely well traveled and easy going.

Any tips or sites particularly good for kids?

Bunratty Folk Park would likely appeal to the kids (and you as parents, too). We loved it!!

Cute cottages, shops, animals, etc. The best example of what Ireland was like a century or more ago.

Nice place.

So far, then plan sounds good to me, no red flags.

In Dingle you might want to take the boat ride out in the harbor to spot Fungy the dolphin. I had walked out to the lighthouse and was walking back when we heard the motors of the first boat of the morning. We had been scanning the harbor looking for the dolphin to no avail, but amazingly as soon as we heard the motor, we saw him come streaking out of a side cove. We watched from the shore as he led the boat out and circled it. Fun! There is also a cute dolphin statue at the dock where you can get the kids' picture. Really, I thought the whole dolphin thing was going to be lame, but I was wrong! There were also several groups riding horseback along the edge of the bay which was fun to watch and then later see the horses in town heading back to their paddock.

I was on the RS tour of Ireland and we went over to Inishmor for the day. I thought the ancient fort, Dun Aengus was very interesting but the path is steep and pretty rocky. (Thinking about the person who will be carrying the 6 month old, lol!!) I was not crazy about the rest of the island altho many are charmed. We took the ferry from Rossaveal.

Thanks everyone! Some great ideas. Had to reverse our itinerary due to flight availability and price so this is what we have
Day 1 Arrive in Shannon Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle (Sleep in Galway)
day 2 Aran Islands (Sleep in Galway)
Day 3 Drive down to Dingle Peninsula (sleep in Dingle)
Day 4 Dingle Peninsula (sleep in Dingle)
Day 5 Blarney castle (fly out of cork)

On day 3 what is good to see on the way. Or is there a good halfway stop if we don't want to drive the whole thing in a day? Is it okay to skip the ring of Kerry?

Does this look doable?

You can certainly do the Dingle Peninsula in a day...it's a pretty full day, but we took our time and stopped to enjoy most everything Rick recommended and a few extra walks along the way. We skipped the Ring of Kerry and were ok with it, as the Dingle Peninsula is so amazing and not too crowded. If you haven't booked a place in Dingle, I'd highly recommend staying at the Greenmount House, the best B&B we stayed at in all of Ireland! We are so bummed they are already booked for our return trip this year.

Day 3: I'd keep open as you have it. If you are like us (arriving on an overnight flight) first thing in the morning you might find yourself much more tired than you think. We arrived to Shannon last year and planned to do the Dingle Peninsula the same day...we basically made it to Dingle from the airport (a few hour drive) had lunch and ended up sleeping for 5-6 hours. We awoke refreshed and were able to check out the town. Luckily we had flexibility in our schedule and were able to do it the next day. You may not feel like doing Bunratty, the Cliffs and getting to Galway all on the first day. If so, you could plan to hit the Cliffs on your way to Dingle and you haven't missed them...(also if the weather is bad on your way North, that would allow for another chance to see them in great weather).
