South west Ireland

I will be flying into Shannon in September and only have 4 nights in the area.
Looking for somewhere to use a home base while in the area- want to see Dingle and the Killarney area.
Not looking to stay in a busy area... any suggestions?

What about Tralee?

Thank you for your help.

Stay in Dingle. Killarney isn't a far drive from there. Lots of marvelous BnB's in Dingle not to mention the best spot to enjoy a pint, Foxy John's. A working hardware store and a pub. Stay there 3 nights then make you last night in Gallway or Doolin if you'd like. Do not miss the Gap of Dunloe!

Actually, Tralee wouldn't be a bad choice as a centrally located home base convenient to both Dingle and Killarney. It's less than an hour to either town by car and would make for a much more mellow experience all the way around. Plus, we thought that Tralee was a pretty little place in it's own right. Would be a great place to base yourself.
Alternatively (and depending upon your interests) Galway and the Connemara area would be a good choice too. Lots to see and do there, and it would make for a (slightly) shorter drive back to Shannon to catch your departing flight.

I have to agree with the recommendation for Dingle. I just love be that town. You'll find plenty to keep you busy for four days.

Make sure you take in the Medieval Banquet at Bunratty Castle, the music is amazing and the food is excellent. Best of all it's within 10km of Shannon.
