Hi, wondering what the smoking situation is in Ireland -- both inside hotels, museums, as well as inside bars and restaurants.
Thanks
When my family visited in 2019 we found that it was non-smoking inside establishments and sights. However, we had trouble when wanting to go up to a restaurant/pub to view the posted menu outside as it never failed that is where the smokers would be congregated. It was really challenging for us to read menus especially in Dublin with a crowd of smokers always nearby. If you or others are bothered by smoke you may want look up menus in advance instead of checking them out in person.
Thanks for the info! Very useful. Glad I will be able to enjoy the pubs!!!
It's prohibited in most, maybe all, public indoor spaces. Pubs often have open-air smoking areas in back.
Edit -- Some hotels may have rooms where smoking is allowed, but it doesn't seem like you're looking for that.
Hello from Wisconsin,
Amazingly, for all those darkened pubs where revolutionaries plot...non-smoking. We first experienced the non-smoking in 2008. Even rural pubs...outside if you want to smoke. So your experience there will resemble your experience here except for the brogue.
Smokers gather outside the door, sound familiar? Cigarette butts near the pubs//restaurants.
