I have booked a Tue ferry from Fishguard Wales to Rosslare Harbour but it gets in at 17:30/5:30pm, too late to pick up a rental car in Wexford (it's really the Ardcavan Business Park just outside Wexford).
Should we spend the night in Rosslare, in Wexford, or somewhere along the way???
It's the first time we have rented in Ireland, so I'm definitely reserving an automatic. Any other car hire advice is much appreciated.
Unless you want to visit the beach or have a keen interest in lighthouse history, then Wexford would be the clear winner to me. The town had the shore station for the Tuskar Rock light (which was in a sorry state the last time I saw it). There is a Maritime Museum, open Saturday only.
There is a train at 1755, also buses at 1730, 1845, 2030, 2130 and 2230.
