Skellig Michael without the climb

We'll be visiting the Ring of Kerry in September, and while we'd love to go to the top of Skellig Michael, the climb is just not in the cards for us. Is it still worth it to take a boat there anyway? Has anyone done just that, and if so, what is that like?

Hi
While I have climbed to the top a few times, there is another option.
There is a visitor centre at the Bridge at Portmagee / Valentia Island. It is very good and worth a visit.

If the weather is good , there are boat trips around the island. It is worth the trip. You get to go around the Skellig and also visit little skellig to see the Gannets. If lucky you might see dolphins or even a whale on the trip

Hmm, I don't think it would be worth it. There isn't much to see if you don't climb to the top, it would just be a boat ride in somewhat choppy seas. We went with another couple who didn't realize the climb and are afraid of heights, thus they laid in the grass at the base and waited. There is no area to mosey around as it is a huge, steep, rock in the middle of the ocean as you can see from this picture.
The monetary at the top is what is fascinating!
