There are four of us on the 14 day tour of Ireland. Are we better off taking a taxi to the hotel (Bushwells) or should we take an airport shuttle. With 4 of us in the taxi would the cost be close to the same as buying 4 shuttle bus tickets?
Taxi will
Depend on meter - so depending on traffic and exact destination in Dublin it will
Cost between 20-30 euros - usually comes in around 25 or so .
Don’t know how much shuttle costs but direct door to door when tired after a long flight we always take taxi
Last June Airlink was 7Euro. I took it because my hotel was near Christ Church which was one of the stops on the 747. Look online to check current price and route for the shuttle and if it makes sense for your hotel. I switched to Buswells for the RS tour, but don't recall how close the 757 route came to that hotel.
With 4, I'd definitely take a taxi as I remember the ticket queue was very disorganized and the wait for a bus was very long (almost an hour, not sure why.)
I don't wish to hijack this thread, but myself and 5 other people will be in Dublin in October. Are there taxis that can handle 6 people and their luggage (long weekend, so just a carry on per person)? That would be preferable to the shuttle or to splitting between two cabs. Thanks.
Not aware of any shuttle services in Dublin, there are many bus routes to the city & beyond. There are 6 & 7-seat taxis available at the airport, just ask the dispatcher if one can be summoned. As you're presumably on hand luggage only, you'll fit that in too.
Aircoach https://www.aircoach.ie/
drops you off less than a block from the hotel for 8 euros each if booked online. You get to see some of the city on the way in and the hotel is the 4th stop, takes about 20 minutes. It was easy to find the bus at the airport and overall a simple experience on a clean comfortable coach when foggy from travel.
