shoes for 2 week Ireland Trip

My husband, 17-year old son and I are going to Ireland for the 8 day RS Tour in July. We will be going a little early to spend some time in the Waterford area before the tour, so we'll be there about 2 weeks total. We'll be walking a lot. I know it rains a lot in Ireland, but that July is comparably drier than other times. I have comfortable, waterproof tennis shoes from Vessi. Do you think I will need hiking boots? I'm trying to pack light and wondering if boots are worth it. If they are, what are some light weight walking boots you recommend?

If you're out walking in grassy areas other than neatly mown parkland, your ankles and legs will get wet in waterproof shoes.

Personally I like to wear regular boots in the British isles -- not hiking boots, but flat-heeled fashion boots that can also go with a dress and tights in the evenings. That would be my only footwear except a little pair of slip-ons to wear inside the hotel. Boots may be too hot for July, though. Do you have rain pants, or quick-dry pants that you can treat with silicone spray before leaving home? I would also recommend a long raincoat that will protect you at least down to the knees.
