Anyone have an opinion on the Shannon Ferry ride? We will be in Galway to Kenmare next week in a rental car.
I had no complaint.
If you have limited time and your primary goal is to get to Kenmare as quickly as possible then taking motorway via Limerick is your better bet.
If you're not pinched for time and are looking for a scenic drive then the coastal route down the N67 to the Tarbert ferry is a pleasant way to go, but going that way will take you around 6 hours door to door. The ferry is nice enough but it's just a ferry - not exactly a destination in it's own right if that's what you're asking.
You'll dedicate most of a full day to the trip if you opt for the coastal route and, depending on your particular interests, that time might be better spent exploring the southern part of the ROK, the Skellig Ring, or maybe part of the Beara peninsula.
