My wife and I are headed to Ireland mid-September for 7 nights. Flying in/out of Dublin. We do NOT need to see as much as possible but rather are looking for 2-3 nights at the top scenic locations that will not keep us in a car all day. Thanks in advance.

Personally I’d train to Belfast and spend a night there. Visit the Titanic Museum and the gaol. Have seafood at Mournes by Kelly Cellars.
Train back to Dublin. Next morning bus to Dublin airport to pick up your car rental.
From there drive to Glendalough. From there I’d research places that might meet your interests.
As an FYI I’ve driven from Dublin to Dingle in 4 hours. Perfectly fine roads. Pleasant petrol stops.
